Unveiling Resistance

Unveiling Resistance was an open call art exhibition at the Gallery at CCBC Essex. With the need to advertise the call to produce submission, it was important to generate eye catching flyers and banners without having any artwork to feature.

I decided to go with a ripped paper look for several reasons. The act of tearing layers away to reveal the truth or foundation behind showcased some of the aspects that the curator wanted to discuss in his statement. I also wanted to replicate the feel of telephone poles with layers and layers of flyers. The show wasn't tackling one social aspect, but the act of making artwork in protest. The telephone pole with flyers echoed the idea of many voices and many movements in my mind.
